Policies
Proper Attire
Close fitting clothes are are required for all classes where technique is being taught. Leotards and tights are made to fit the student so that the teacher can see the alignment of the body and that the students are correctly positioned. Additional clothing prevents viewing the bodyline and hampers the ability to make corrections that are so important for growth as a dancer. Excessive jewelry, large hair clips, etc should not be worn, as they are distracting and could cause injury. Leotards and tights are required for all classes. Skirts and or ballet shorts are allowed. Jazz pants and capris are allowed for tap, jazz, and hip hop classes.
Hair
Loose hair is a distraction to the dancer who will need to continually move it out of the face. It can also be a hazard to all, when hair is in the dancer's line of vision while moving. Hair must be neatly secured back away from the face for all classes.
Attendance
Regular attendance is important for the progress of all students which contributes to the enjoyment of the classes. It is the student's responsibility to notify us when he or she is going to be absent. Not only is it important to regularly attend class but also to be on time for class. In all classes, we go through a series of movements to warm up the entire body. Missing any part could result in an area of the body not being ready for the larger movements. Getting a good warmup can prevent unnecessary soreness and possible injury.
Food or Chewing Gum
No food or chewing gum are allowed in the dance studio during classes.
